My focus as a teacher is on encouraging and helping my students to develop musically and artistically. At the heart of playing an instrument is beauty, expression, creativity, soul. And of course one of my foremost goals is to foster in my students a solid and precise technique, without which artistry isn’t even a possibility. The physical element of playing the piano is foundational. I teach my students how each part of the body (not just their hands!) affects their sound, their comfort at the piano, and their ability to play a wide range of music.

Playing the piano well requires diligence, patience, introspection, discipline, and creativity. I’m passionate about teaching my students the valuable skills and character-building habits that come with music study.
